The Williams College Department of Music presents the Chamber Choir under the direction of Anna Lenti on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Thompson Memorial Chapel. This free event are open to the public.
The Williams Chamber Choir presents Poetry and Prayers, a musical exploration of the power of texts, both sacred and secular. The program will center around Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, a powerful work for choir and organ which sets the poetry of 18th-century poet, Christopher Smart. This choral masterpiece will be followed by a diverse mix of equally exciting shorter works, including pieces by Shiren Abu-Khader, Ysaye Barnwell, Elaine Hagenberg, and Zachary Wadsworth. The program will also feature Williams’ newest vocal chamber ensemble, Ephemera, on one-per-part performances of Jacques Arcadelt, Salamone Rossi, and Mari Esabel Valverde.
