Berkshire Concert Choir: The Sounds Of Music

May 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

The concert will feature an audience singalong of favorites from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, as well as an exploration of global sounds of music, including Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, and Everyday Wonders: The Girl from Aleppo, a cantata by contemporary British composer Cecilia McDowall based on the true story of a teenage Syrian refugee, as well as choral music from around the world.

The combined choruses include 75 singers ages 8 to 80 conducted by Ryan LaBoy, Artistic Director of the Berkshire Children’s Chorus and Music Director of the Berkshire Concert Choir. Says LaBoy, “We seek to embrace the true sounds of M.U.S.I.C. – the Music of Understanding, Spirit, Inclusivity, and Connection. In addition to beautiful music, it is a demonstration of the rich and diverse community that exists here at home.”

These programs are supported in part by grants from the Local Cultural Councils of Alford/Egremont, Lee, Lenox, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Richmond, Pittsfield, Sheffield, and Stockbridge, local agencies which are supported by the Mass. Cultural Council, a state agency; and by grants from the Feigenbaum Foundation and Greylock Federal Credit Union.
