It’s a busy early spring week for live music in the Berkshires! There are many great choices – so many, in fact, that it’s tough to choose. On Wednesday, the Luke Franco trio will play from 5:30 to 8:30 at The Lion’s Den as part of their March Jazz series. Thursday, there are two great choices: New York-based singer-songwriter Michelle Willis at the Lion’s Den, or the Ian Giles Trio at the Egremont Barn, described as “funk, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, and more.”
Friday night presents the toughest choice with four great shows. We will be going to see Glori Wilder at the Egremont Barn. We saw her perform a few songs at The Barn’s holiday event and loved her vibe. But we also want to see Milton again, playing at the Lion’s Den. We saw Milton for the first time at The Ostrich Room last month and immediately got hooked. For comparison, he’s a bit like Dylan (Bob or Jakob), sometimes reminding us of Van Morrison and other times Jackson Browne. We immediately went home and found his music on Spotify.
The two other great options for Friday are Misty Blues, playing at Firefly Gastropub in Lenox, and David Phenicie and Friends at the Ostrich Room. Joining David will be Mike Stinson and Johnny Irion, who recently played down at the Egremont Barn.
On Saturday night, you can catch David again, this time playing with Mike Stinson at The Lion’s Den. But there are three other great choices, too: Michelle Willis will be over at the Ostrich Room, just in case you missed her on Friday night. Or catch the rock-jazz-blues band The BTUs over at Firefly. Dead Man’s Waltz is rounding out Saturday night, interweaving the music of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Band. They are playing at the Egremont Barn.
You can wind down your weekend on Sunday evening by listening to Michael Junkins and Friends, part of the March Jazz Series at the Lion’s Den.
It’s a great weekend to get out there and support your local venues.
