Show Rundown: Week of October 13

Jesse Roper @ Egremont Barn Sunday, October 19

It’s another jam-packed week of music in the Berkshires, with 41 live performances lighting up stages across the county. Highlights include ambient music pioneer Don Slepian’s Sea of Bliss 45th Anniversary Show, soulful sets from Glori Wilder and Jesse Roper, and a double album release celebration with Misty Blues. Friday brings the carnival energy of The Vagabond Ball with three great bands, while Rumbo Tumba, Trooko & Friends, and Crescendo’s “The South’s Breath” showcase global sounds—from Latin rhythms to Andean folk—proving the Berkshires’ music scene is as eclectic as ever. Check out a few highlights below—and don’t forget to review the full schedule to plan your next musical outing.

  • Don Slepian – Sea of Bliss 45th Anniversary Show at Tourists on Monday. A composer, performer, and music technologist, Slepian is revered as a pioneer in the ambient and new age music movement, blending classical influences with cutting-edge electronic techniques. His ethereal 24-minute song, “Awakening,” has garnered over 1 million streams on Spotify.
  • An evening with Jay Nash at Egremont Barn on Thursday. Catch the Americana artist from the Green Mountains of Vermont as he makes a stop in South Egremont on his East Coast tour.
  • Glori Wilder at Dream Away Lodge on Thursday. It’s been several months since the R&B and soul artist from Connecticut has been in the county; before you go, check out my profile piece on Glori in Berkshire Magazine.
  • Misty Blues: Double Album Release Concert at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday. Join this special concert where Gina Coleman’s debut solo album, released in June, and Misty Blues’ 17th album, released in August, will be performed live in track order on the same night.
  • Rumbo Tumba at The Foundry on Friday. Rumbo Tumbo is the electro-acoustic music project of Argentine artist Facundo Salgado, a one-man band who creates organic loops in real time, blending traditional South American and Andean instruments with modern urban beats like dub, hip hop, and house to carry regional folklore into the future.
  • The Vagabond Ball: Featuring Bella’s Bartok, The Slambovian Circus of Dreams & The Picky Bastards at Colonial Theatre on Friday. Get ready for a wild night featuring the carnival chaos of Bella’s Bartok, the surreal Americana grooves of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, and the foot-stomping bluegrass energy of The Picky Bastards. Three great bands for the price of one!
  • The South’s Breath–Latin American Instruments on a Musical Heritage Journey at St. James Place on Saturday. Crescendo’s “The South’s Breath” concert showcases the rich fusion of indigenous, European, and African influences in South American music, blending early colonial compositions and folk traditions with contemporary Andean and European sounds performed on both classical and traditional instruments.
  • FreshGrass Institute presents: TROOKO & Friends at Studio 9 on Saturday. Catch this intimate, work-in-progress performance exploring the power of Latin American percussion, offering a first look at new music developed during Trooko’s FreshGrass Institute residency—led by the GRAMMY- and Latin GRAMMY-winning Honduran producer known for collaborations with Beyoncé, Residente, Bad Bunny, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
  • Yesterday Once More: A Tribute to The Carpenters at Colonial Theatre on Saturday. Get ready for a night of nostalgia as this tribute band recreates the lush harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and timeless melodies that made The Carpenters one of the most beloved pop duos of all time.
  • TLI Chamber Concert at Tanglewood on Sunday. A chamber orchestra of six players will perform compositions by Ortiz and Dvořák.
  • Cantilena: Rutter & Tchaikovsky at Trinity Episcopal Church on Sunday. The Cantilena Chamber Choir presents the Requiem by John Rutter, featuring chorus, orchestra, and guest soloist.
  • Jesse Roper live at The Barn at Egremont Barn on Sunday. The Canadian rocker brings his soulful vocals and vintage rhythm-and-blues swagger to the Barn. His song “Does Anybody Know” has 7.5 million streams on Spotify.
