Show Rundown: Week of November 3

Dyan @ Tourists Friday, November 7

This week’s live music lineup in the Berkshires is a perfect reminder of how lucky we are to call this place home. With 36 performances spanning rock, folk, pop, soul, jazz, and classical, the week features something for every listener—including a hugely popular indie artist playing a free, intimate show, a country/Americana star signed by John Prine’s label, and appearances by Grammy®-winning classical and jazz ensembles. Explore some highlights below, and don’t forget to check the full schedule to plan your next night out.

  • Live at The Barn: Kelsey Waldon – Concert for the Horses. A Blue Rider Stables Fundraiser at Egremont Barn on Tuesday. See the critically acclaimed country/Americana artist, represented by John Prine’s Oh Boy Records, as she tours the East Coast and makes a special stop at the Barn for this fundraiser to support Blue Rider Stables in South Egremont.
  • TLI Jazz: Ulysses Owens, Jr. and Generation Y at Tanglewood Linde Center on Friday. Catch the three-time Grammy® Award-winner Owens and his new Generation Y band, whose album A New Beat was voted one of the “Best Albums of 2024” by Downbeat Magazine.
  • Berkshire Symphony at Williams College on Friday. The Symphony presents a program called “Classicism and Beyond,” featuring works by Caroline Shaw, Mozart, and Schumann. This event is free and open to the public.
  • Dyan at Tourists on Friday. This is one of those rare chances to see a highly popular artist in an intimate setting, as Dyan, the name used by multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer, songwriter, and producer Alexis Marsh (pictured above), stops in North Adams as part of Tourists’ Sing for Your Slumber series. Dyan has over 139K monthly listeners on Spotify, and the title track of her album Looking for Knives has nearly 12M streams.
  • TLI Presents: Berkshire Bach Portals—Bach & Friends at Tanglewood Linde Center on Saturday. The program features a screening of the film Bach & Friends, with pianist Simone Dinnerstein and Berkshire Bach Society Artistic Director and violinist Eugene Drucker introducing the film with a live performance and discussing their personal journeys with Bach’s music during a conversation after the screening.
  • Deadfall IV at The Stationery Factory on Saturday. A family-friendly indoor festival of music and arts featuring Dead Man’s Waltz, Marks Brothers, Creamery Station, The Wheel, Krishna Guthrie, along with food, craft vendors, and a food drive to benefit Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in Dalton.
  • Silkroad Ensemble featuring Wu Man: American Railroad at Mahaiwe on Saturday. Led by pipa virtuoso Wu Man, the Grammy® Award–winning Silkroad Ensemble presents American Railroad. This richly layered program combines musical traditions from around the globe to celebrate the diverse communities that helped shape the nation.
  • Milton at The Lion’s Den on Saturday. Out of New York City, Milton is one of our favorite visiting artists and one of the first musicians we interviewed here at MITB.
  • Buffalo Rose at Egremont Barn on Saturday. This six-piece band from Pittsburgh brings a fresh take on folk and Americana, blending pop, rock, soul, and even musical theatre.
  • Moon Mullins Plays Hotel Paradiso at Tourists on Sunday. Moon Mullins is a project of Sean Mullins (not to be confused with Shawn Mullins). Mullins will perform his concept album Hotel Paradiso, described as a journey that follows a mysterious traveler through a single, dreamlike day at a luxurious seaside hotel, using a mix of vintage keyboards, acoustic instruments, and klezmer-influenced textures.

In addition to these highlights, check out local favorites including The BTUs (Fri), Terry A La Berry and Friends (Sat), Nate Martel (Sun), and Chris Merenda (Sun).
