Musically, it’s a quiet week ahead in the Berkshires as we approach Easter Sunday and close out March, with local and regional acts dominating the holiday week. We have 27 performances on our music calendar, including jazz, rock, pop, folk, and blues. Below are a few highlights of the week ahead, followed by our comprehensive show rundown.
Classical
We have one classical performance on the calendar, added after we originally posted this week’s blog: South Berkshire Concert: New Works By Berkshire Composers, taking place Sunday afternoon at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington.
Jazz
We have five jazz performances this week, starting Tuesday with the Nocturnals Jazz Duo at Methuselah Bar & Lounge in Pittsfield. Saturday night, Andy Wrba and Friends perform at the Egremont Barn. Andy will be joined by Wanda Houston, Ed Moran, Benny Kohn, and Conor Meehan. Also on Saturday, the David Bartley Quartet performs at Dorothy’s Estaminet in Pittsfield.
Easter Sunday at midday, catch the Jazz Brunch with Jonathan Suters at Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield. On Sunday evening, you’ll find Michael Junkins and Friends at The Lion’s Den. Joining Michael this week is Peter Skaller on Piano.
Popular (Rock, Pop, Folk, Blues, etc.)
We have over 20 performances in the popular music category – we can’t highlight them all but will mention a few (see our calendar or show rundown below for all the performances). The music starts on Wednesday night with Melissa Brinton performing at RJ’s Restaurant in Pittsfield.
Thursday night, The Beatles Tribute band The Eggmen perform at Egremont Barn. The band features local musicians Tom Teeley, Tom Major, Steve Ide, Rob Putnam, Gigi Teeley, and Carol Ide. Over at the Lion’s Den, the Troy-based folk trio Hold On Honeys performs. If you want to celebrate our rising stars, get yourself over to The Stationery Factory in Dalton to see Calliope Cafe, an important program that helps develop the future musicians of Berkshires County.
On Friday, catch local favorites Misty Blues at Dorothy’s Estaminet in Pittsfield, Melissa Brinton at Bousquet in Pittsfield, Nate Martel at Antimony Brewing in Lenox, or The BTUs at Egremont Barn. Also on Friday, the indie-rocker John Brodeur of Bird Streets is doing a solo gig at The Lion’s Den.
Saturday afternoon, Rees Shad has a Galahad Blues Album Release event at Big Elm Brewery & Taproom in Sheffield. Saturday night, the Duke Robillard Band (pictured above) visits The Stationery Factory in Dalton. The renowned blues guitarist was a founder of Roomful of Blues. Also on Saturday, Michael Aaron and Kat Winston are at Antimony Brewing in Lenox, while 60’s rock and R&B band Diva and the Dirty Boys perform at The Lion’s Den.
