Summer arrives in full force this week — officially with Friday’s solstice and unofficially with the launch of the Tanglewood season, as music returns to the Shed. The live music scene is heating up, too, with 60 performances happening across Berkshire County. From classical and jazz to rock, folk, the American Songbook, and even a concert for kids and families, there’s something for everyone. - Stephanie Blythe: Johnny Mercer: Mister Inbetween at the Barrington Stage Company on Monday. Catch this tribute to Johnny Mercer, one of the most important and celebrated musical artists in American Songbook history.
- Will Daily at Tourists on Thursday. Daily’s music is described as “a twisted, Americana psychedelia” – his song “Higher Education” has over 5M streams on Spotify. Catch him for free in Tourist’s Sing For Your Slumber series.
- Top Gun: Maverick in Concert at Tanglewood on Friday. Don’t miss the opening night of the 2025 Tanglewood season at the Koussevitzky Music Shed when the Boston Pops Orchestra performs the score of the iconic film.
- Los Lobos at the Mahaiwe (pictured above) on Friday. Catch the four-time GRAMMY winners as part of their nationwide tour.
- A Prairie Home Companion at Tanglewood on Saturday. It’s opening night for the Popular Series at Tanglewood, with Keillor and his band offering a mix of storytelling and music.
- WSHS Jazz Series Presents the Felipe Salles Quartet at the West Stockbridge Old Town Hall on Saturday. Catch the award-winning jazz artist in an intimate setting.
- Joe Crookston Live at The Guthrie Center on Saturday. Crookston has won numerous awards, including “Album of the Year” by Folk Alliance International in 2009.
- Shawn Colvin and Rodney Crowell: Together on Stage at Mahaiwe on Saturday. Colvin won a GRAMMY for her hit “Sunny Came Home.” She’ll be joined by country and Americana two-time GRAMMY winner Crowell.
- Martha Redbone at MASS MoCA on Saturday. Redbone is a vocalist, songwriter, composer, and educator known for her unique mix of folk, blues, and gospel music.
- John Lloyd Young Broadway’s Jersey Boy at the Barrington Stage Company on Sunday. Enjoy a celebration of classic hits from the ‘50s and ‘60s in an intimate setting.
