It’s Thanksgiving week, and we have much to be thankful for here in The Berkshires: the beauty of our natural surroundings, a kind and welcoming community, incredible cultural events, and, of course, amazing live music! We have 20 performances in the County this week, including rock, folk, blues, jazz, and our first holiday event. Below are a few highlights, followed by the full show rundown.
But before moving on, if you’ve not already done so, please subscribe to our free weekly Show Rundown to receive this content in your inbox each Monday – plus, you’ll receive exclusive information not found on our website or social media pages about recently announced shows and hot tickets. Subscribing also shows our supporters how much you value Music in the Berkshires.
Jazz
We have four jazz performances this week, starting off Monday night with the Matt Steckler Trio at Methuselah Bar & Lounge in Pittsfield. On Wednesday, you’ll find the Daryl Lowery Trio at The Lion’s Den in Stockbridge. Sunday morning, catch the Richard Stanmeyer Trio at Dottie’s Coffee Lounge in Pittsfield. And as usual, the jazz week concludes Sunday evening with Michael Junkins and Friends at The Lion’s Den.
Classical
We are light on classical music options this week, but singers will rejoice to find a Messiah Sing at the First Congregational Church of Great Barrington on Saturday afternoon. And don’t despair – many more classical performances are on the calendar in December.
Popular (Rock, Pop, Folk, Blues, etc.)
We have roughly 15 performances in the popular music genres – we can’t highlight them all, but there are some great performances that should get you out of the house before or after the holiday. If you need a break from your Thanksgiving preparations, then Wednesday night offers three great options. You can catch a Thanksgiving Eve Party with Lexi Weege & JJ Slater Band at Hot Plate Brewing Company in Pittsfield or enjoy Thanksgiving Eve with Lindsay Ann at Proprietor’s Lodge in Pittsfield. Or, catch the incredibly diverse music of Bella’s Bartok (pictured above) at Egremont Barn – they bill themselves as “a band known for raucous theatrical performances and an outspoken political message of finding hope in a world beset by cruel uncertainty.”
On Friday night, several local favorites are performing, including last week’s Featured Musician, Misty Blues, at Berkshire Palate in Pittsfield and The Beatles tribute band The Eggmen at Egremont Barn. Courtney Shayne is performing with the Wanda Houston Band (Wanda is away) at Firefly Gastropub in Lenox.
On Saturday, The Best Times is playing at The Lion’s Den. The P/Js (Putnam and Jaffe) are at Egremont Barn. They are “a flash mob band consisting of Ben Jaffe, Asher Putnam, Rob Putnam, Jesse Putnam, Connor Meehan, and a host of their Berkshire County friends.” Jon Berman is at Antimony Brewing in Lenox, and for some old-world folk, archaic street ballads, and songs of the sea, you can catch Alex Harvey Presents Shinbone Alley at Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield.
Wrapping the week up, you’ll find Melissa Brinton at Antimony Brewing on Sunday afternoon.
