Quarteto de Samba is a musical journey to Brazil. Led by Tarcisio (Taz). Taz’s passion for his cultural heritage and his band mates, Sam, Henry and Jean, drives the band’s mission to spread musical diversity in western mass and beyond.
Quarteto de Samba is a kaleidoscope of Brazilian sounds from Samba to Bossa Nova, from Brazilian funk to Choro, and Forró. With each song, they transport audiences to the lively streets of Rio de Janeiro or the cozy cafes of São Paulo.
At the heart of the ensemble are four dedicated musicians, each committed to celebrating and preserving Brazilian musical traditions as well as adding their own spice to the performance. Sam Stouffer on the percussion plays the quintessential Brazilian Pandeiro, Henry Davidson plays the Brazilian guitar, while Jean plays the mandolin and accordion adding layers of texture and depth to the band’s sound.
Taz serves as both lead vocalist and instrumentalist, switching between the flute and cavaquinho. Together, their voices unite in traditional call and response fashion, creating a unique Brazilian atmosphere.
