Nadav Brenner: From Afar
From Afar (מרחוק) is Nadav Brenner’s debut album. Setting poems by renowned Israeli poet Nathan Zach alongside original lyrics, the album reflects on the difficulty of communicating across cultures, generations, and childhoods, unfolding in a musical world of lush classical textures and improvisational flow.
Inspired by Brenner’s move from his home in Haifa, Israel to the US, From Afar emerged from his experience of living between places. While pursuing his musical ambitions he also met loneliness and loss, and writing these songs became a way to reflect on the meaning of belonging, while adapting to life as a foreigner in a new land.
