“A couple years ago, I had the idea of combining opera with Broadway for a concert. I recognized there are many Broadway shows that are really operatic in nature but because it is labeled “Broadway” people didn’t see the distinction. A Show like Phantom of Opera is a good example. A well-known show all over the world, it IS an opera piece, including scenes of an opera within the show itself! Having produced several Andrew Lloyd Webber shows, the idea was always there. And finally, MPZ Productions brings Operatic Broadway to the Berkshires! I’ve assembled a starry array of performers from the Metropolitan Opera, regional opera and theater from around the world, and Broadway. The accompanist and music director, John Fischer, is an accomplished musician, having performed throughout the country with various symphony orchestras and Broadway star solo concerts. A show for all!
