Jazz Nights – Williams Jazz Orchestra offers a performance that mixes superb modern interpretations of old big band favorites along with new works, all featuring talented student jazz improvisors. Incredibly, the whole band manages to bunch itself onto the modestly proportioned stage of Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, recalling the days of a more intimate big band sound. Eschewing amplification, except for soloists, the occasion gives the audience the chance to enjoy a really focused sound.
This is the second evening of a two part event: don’t miss Jazz Nights – Combos, in the same venue, but the night before (Thursday, November 7)
In Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall.
