Lich Gate Concerts presents a mid-winter respite on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2 pm, with a concert in the sun-lit sanctuary of Old Parish Church, 125 Main Street, in Sheffield. Whether you are a long-time classical music lover or new to the genre, this concert promises to be an exceptional experience.
Artistic Director Jorge Ávila has curated a brilliant program featuring works for Piano Quartet (Piano and String Trio) from the Classical and Romantic periods and smaller works for various string and piano combinations.
The program includes the Piano Quartet in E-flat major, K. 493, by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the first to compose for this rich musical genre. From the Romantic period, we hear the Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 15 by French composer Gabriel Fauré, considered one of the three masterpieces of his youth. Smaller works by Schubert, Glière, and Stamitz will also be heard.
Our New York-based artists include Artistic Director Jorge Àvila, Violin; Sarah Adams, Viola; Sarah Hewitt-Roth, Cello; and Adrienne Kim, Piano.
Join us in experiencing the captivating artistry of these top-tier players as they share their insights into these beautiful works!
