We have another incredible week of live music in The Berkshires, with 22 different shows at the venues we track between Wednesday afternoon and Sunday evening. There are too many shows to cover them all, but here are a few highlights:
If you are looking to see a headline act, then the Mahaiwe has your ticket with Joan Osborne. She is appearing with Special Guests Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams at 8:00 pm on Friday night.
But if you are looking for something more intimate, there are five other shows that evening. A friend shared that he’s planning to check out Clare Maloney and the Great Adventure over at the Lion’s Den (pictured above). Listen to her Tiny Desk contest submission on YouTube here – we think you’ll love her. (And if you can’t make it to see her Friday night, you can catch them Saturday at The Ostrich Room). Over at the Egremont Barn, you can see The Picky Ba$tards, rockers with a bluegrass influence. If you like mandolin and banjo, they could be the pick for you. Listen to a prior performance at the Barn here on YouTube. James Montgomery Band brings their blues rock to The Stationery Factory in Dalton, and Berkshire Local Misty Blues is playing at Firefly Gastropub in Lenox.
If you want to start the weekend early, then pick from two great shows on Thursday night. Carson McHone will be at The Foundry in West Stockbridge – we saw her last fall and really enjoyed her blend of rock, country, and folk. Listen on YouTube here. And U.S. Elevator will be at The Lion’s Den. They feature Santa Barbara-based Johnny Irion, who has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting artists across the folk-rock spectrum.
Jumping to Saturday night, if you like Spin Doctors, then you’ll want to see their lead singer Chris Barron with Katie Herbst over at Egremont Barn. But you can also catch local artists, too. Wanda Houston will be at Firefly, and Great Barrington’s Lucky Five will be playing just up the road in Stockbridge at the Lion’s Den.
If rock music is not your thing, then there are also several great options this weekend. The Berkshire Chamber Players are at the Stockbridge Library Saturday Night. Cappella Pratensis, part of the Visiting Artist Series at Williams College, is also performing Saturday night. And if you like Opera, go see Berkshire Opera Festival: To Paris with Love, performing at St. James Place in Great Barrington Sunday at 2:00 PM. And Tanglewood is offering a Chamber Concert featuring Shaw, Prokofiev, and Brahmsat at 3:00 PM at the Linde Center.
