We are still in the early weeks of spring in The Berkshires, but the live music events are starting to pick up – there are 20 events on our calendar for this weekend!
This week, we started tracking events up at Williams College in Williamstown. We are incredibly impressed with the number of interesting classical and jazz performances they offer, all free! Starting on Wednesday, you can attend a master class by the Escher Quartet. They then perform on Thursday evening at 7:00. They’ve played all over the world, but you can catch them here in The Berkshires at Williams. On Thursday, you can see Celebrating World Heritage: A Talk & Trio Concert of Pipa (China), Oud (Syria), Harp (Venezuela). They will play starting at 7:00 pm, but you can join them at 4:15 for a pre-concert talk.
Moving south, you can find two great shows at The Stationery Factory in Dalton. On Friday, catch Seth Rosenbloom, hailed by The Boston Globe as “a searing blues-rock guitarist.” On Saturday, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks fans will want to see WildHeart Tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac.
If you are in the Lenox, West Stockbridge, or Stockbridge area, you have many options this weekend – knowing where to begin is hard. In Lenox, you can catch the high-energy Berkshire-based rock band Mr. Doubtfire at Firefly Gastropub on Friday, followed by the Amy Ryan band on Saturday, known for her “perfect blend of Country Blues mojo and urban blues and rock.” Also in Lenox at the Ostrich Room, you can see two Americana bands: Florence Dore on Friday and EavesDrop on Saturday.
Just over Lenox Mountain in West Stockbridge, The Foundry is hosting the funk sextet named What?, “known to bring high energy, infectious melodies and soulful grooves with their power-house horn section each time they grace the stage.” They will play at The Foundry on Friday night.
In Stockbridge, bookended by Wednesday and Sunday Jazz performances by Michael Junkins, you can catch Woodstock-based singer-songwriter Marc Delgato on Thursday, New Jersey-based blues-infused rockers The Outcrops on Friday, and Florence Dore on Saturday.
Heading south to Great Barrington at the Mahaiwe Friday night, you’ll find the Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter Laufey (pron. / lay-vay / ) – pictured above. And further south, the Egremont Barn has two shows: on Thursday, the MA-based jam band Arukah performs. On Saturday, Led Zeppelin tribute band Four Sticks performs.
Heading further south to Sheffield, you can wind down your weekend with brunch at The Race Brook Lodge while listening to jazz performed by the Don Mikkelsen Trio. Race Brook Lodge is another venue we just started tracking this week – we hope you’ll stop by and check them out!
