The annual Berkshire Symphony Student Soloist Competition presents a program that includes music from various periods and genres.
The competition is open to Williams College students who have completed required instrumental or vocal studies, are enrolled in qualifying courses, and have been recommended by their instrumental or vocal teachers. Each may choose a movement from a concerto, a single-movement work, a concert or operatic aria, or song cycle for soloist and orchestra.
A distinguished panel of judges of professional musicians from outside the Williams community chooses the winners.
The competition winners will appear with the Berkshire Symphony in Chapin Hall in April.
