Williams Concert Choir and the Williams Chamber Choir conducted by Anna Lenti present a fall concert. This event is free and open to the public.
The Williams Concert and Chamber Choirs present their fall concert, entitled Lineage: Music of Politics and Identity. In recognition of this November’s presidential election, this performance will feature music that both celebrates and challenges the sphere of political influence, music that celebrates various personal identities and the concept of home, and music that specifically speaks to American patriotism and lineage. Works include Handel’s Zadok the Priest, excerpts from Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words of the Unarmed, and shorter works by Balfour, Billings, Byrd, Price, Smyth, and others.
Please note: Some of the pieces on this program deal with difficult subject matter regarding race, violence, identity, and political ideas. For more information and resources about Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words please visit sevenlastwords.org.
If you feel you need support surrounding this concert and its subject matter, there are resources available to you here on campus. The Davis Center, Integrative Wellbeing Services (IWS), and the Chaplain’s Office are always available to you.
